Dandelions

I am not a fan of dandelions...haven't been for a long time now.  To me, they signify that my yard is out of control.  T needs to get some weed killer down, I need to get my butt out in the yard and start pulling.  Nope, not a fan of dandelions at all.

Now, when Reese and I take walks, I'm more than happy to let her pull them, hold them close to her face, blow as hard as she can (while making a wish, of course) and disperse the seeds onto another's unsuspecting lawn - aren't you glad you don't live in my neighborhood? 

I can remember when I was a kid, I loved to do the same thing and often wonder now where my sense of letting go and doing something simply for the pure joy it brings has gone.  The first thing I think about when blowing on a dandelion now is how each seed will likely spawn another weed instead of thinking about which wish I'd like to have come true!

I was walking yesterday on my lunch hour and came across a dandelion that tickled my fancy.  I picked it and blew the seeds to smithereens!  Maybe my sense of fun is still there - maybe I just needed a new perspective on the dandelion...and I hope beyond all hope that more dandelions like this one turn up all over the walking trail.

 This is not a joke, this dandelion is almost as big as my whole hand.
