Decided I'd do weekly updates on my training/fundraising for my upcoming participation in the 3-Day for the Cure event.
Last week, I was supposed to walk a total of 15 miles. I'm proud to say that I accomplished (my 1st week's) goal. As of yesterday morning, I still needed 4 miles, so I did them on the treadmill. I have decided - after yesterday - that I am not a very good treadmill walker. I don't mind running on one so much, but walking is BORING! So, I cheated and ran 1 3/4 of my 4 miles. I figure that's ok since I did the mileage either way.
From here, my weekly mileage steadily increases...this week I need to walk 19.
As for the fundraising, I'm still holding steady at the $20 from overall guy. I did work on my personal fundraising page and will be sending the link out to all my co-workers and friends hoping that I can get a jumpstart. My 2 fundraising ideas (items for sale) have not taken off yet. Not because they aren't good items, but because I haven't started trying to sell them yet. Ok, one of them I haven't even made yet.
I'm down to 15 weeks before the event - guess I better get started! I don't think the fundraising part will be easy, but after 1 week of the "training" to actually be able to complete the walk, I'm thinking that the walk is going to be the hardest part!!!
One positive point to my treadmill walk/run yesterday. Reese came up to the treadmill while I was running and asked me where my legs went. When I asked her what she was talking about, she said, "you're going so fast, I can't even see your legs!" What an excellent incentive...I felt like I was the most awesome runner in the world (even though I really wasn't going THAT fast).
WTG!
